How Do I Choose?
A Seller's Guide to Interviewing a Real Estate Agent

There are approximately 18,000 real estate agents in the East Central Minnesota area. Choosing the right Realtor for your home sale can be confusing. It is especially difficult when you speak with several different Realtors and they all seem so convincing.

There is a way to determine who is the most likely to succeed in getting your price and terms. The key is knowing the right questions to ask.

The following list will provide you with questions to ask your prospective Realtor.
This list will not only help you select the right Realtor for you, but will also help you get the most from the one you choose...

  1. How long have you been in the business?

  1. Do you work as a full time Realtor?

  2. How many listings do you have at this time?

  3. Do you have a personal assistant to see that details are not overlooked?

  4. Do you advertise houses weekly? If so, where?

  5. How many potential buyers and sellers do you talk to every day? Week? Year?

  6. Do you utilize a weekly marketing update system on your computer?

  7. Are you a broker?

  8. How many properties have you sold? (Experience is crucial for the closing procedure).

  9. Are you associated with a national referral network that refers their buyers to you, so that you may refer me to the top agent in the town or state to which I may be moving?

  10. How many referral companies do you work with outside of any franchise relations?

  11. How much do you personally spend each month on advertising? Yearly?

  12. What is my property worth? What listing price do you recommend? How did you arrive at that price?

  13. How will you assist me in my relocation plans?
